About English for Activists

Welcome to the English for Activists (EFA) website. We use this website for English practice and discussion about English and Activism.

There are currently two English for Activists courses: one in Tokyo and one in Yokohama. Matt sometimes also teaches at the Pacific Asia Resource Center (PARC) Freedom School.

The Tokyo course is sponsored by Labor Now! and meets once a week, on Tuesday evenings. The Yokohama course meets every other week on Fridays.

Many of the participants are activists in the workers movement, women's movement, immigrant rights and other social movements. Some are very experienced activists and movement leaders. Others are newer to activism. All of us use English in our work, activism and/or travel, to build international solidarity and for information exchange.
